Biolo\u00adgical evol\u00adu\u00adtion replaces chem\u00adical evol\u00adu\u00adtion 500 million years after Earth is formed. This marks the begin\u00adning of the devel\u00adop\u00adment of life. Traces of the earli\u00adest life forms, micro\u00adscopic tube-shaped fossils, can still be found in certain rocks today.<\/p>\n

Life appears at first in water, and spreads out from there. Proto-cells begin to multiply. They pass their most success\u00adful traits on to their descend\u00adants. Some\u00adtimes new changes appear, and these are subject to natural selection.<\/p>\n

As you continue walk\u00ading, try to imagine how incred\u00adibly long 4100 million years is.<\/p>\n

The first atmo\u00adsphere consisted of 80% water vapour and 10% carbon diox\u00adide and sulphur diox\u00adide, nitro\u00adgen and other small molecules (hydro\u00adgen, sulphur oxide, carbon monox\u00adide, meth\u00adane and ammo\u00adnia).
